Overview

Friggitoria da Davide is a vibrant Sicilian eatery nestled in the heart of Palermo, offering a compelling dive into authentic street food culture. This spot prides itself on frying up traditional delights that celebrate Palermo’s culinary heritage with both flair and respect for local flavors.

The menu shines with specialties like Il Tagliere, a generous platter that showcases a variety of flavors such as panelle, crocché, and arancinetta —each a signature of Sicilian fried goodness. For those eager to explore the city’s folk food, the Pizza Fritta varieties stand out: filled with cured meats, cheeses, and fresh basil, these fried pizzas combine rustic charm with a satisfying crunch. Vegan guests will also find thoughtful options like the Trinacria Vegan tagliere, which balances plant-based ingredients with traditional textures and tastes.

Located on Vle Croce Rossa, the venue pulses with energy. It’s casual and bustling, reflecting the vibrancy of Palermo itself. Diners should anticipate a lively atmosphere that can get quite noisy, making it less suited for intimate conversations but ideal for those seeking an authentic and dynamic street food experience. Space is limited and seating is on the higher side, which might challenge families with young children or those looking for a relaxed dining pace.

Service consistently receives praise for being warm and attentive, with local hosts such as Davide and Riccardo mentioned for their hospitality. The food quality is fresh and indulgent without tipping into heaviness, a testament to skilful frying techniques and fresh ingredients. The reputation of Friggitoria da Davide precedes it, having been recognized in local culinary competitions and from enthusiastic food lovers who value its genuine Sicilian approach.

While the menu's focus is mainly on savory fried specialties and hearty taglieri platters, options like the Montanarine dolci hint at a sweet finish, blending Nutella and pistachio to satisfy a lingering sweet tooth. However, dessert selections are limited, encouraging diners to explore Palermo’s rich bakery traditions elsewhere after their meal.

Overall, this is a destination for those hungry for a true slice of Sicilian street food culture. It delivers a memorable and robust flavor profile, pairing traditional recipes with a communal dining spirit. Ideal for solo diners, groups of friends, or open-minded food explorers, Friggitoria da Davide encapsulates the raw, bustling, and heartfelt essence of Palermo’s frying heritage.

The food is simply amazing, the service is good and prices are reasonable The place is too noisy, almost impossible even to talk to the waiter to order the food.

We ordered ALOT. Food was good. There are 4 restaurants that won the food competition (on a TV programme), and this was one of them. It's known for it's fried food and surprisingly it is not as oily and greasy as I expected. Videos online shows giant food which we thought was on show so we had ordered a bit of everything to try, and when it came the portions were huge. The price is also very cheap. We ate everything (very full) then got desserts elsewhere. There seems to be none here although there were images of a dessert pizza. There is no bookings allowed and we were not allowed to sit down until the entire party had arrived - so seats may be gone. There is very little space to move around inside so as we walked we had to move chairs away and back to get through. There is a little door where staff walks through, this also hit me as you walk past it because the door swings back and forth once they go through. Whilst waiting we have to wait outside in the cold... Overall best to not come here with young children due to the space and seating is very high up.
